Hi! I’m Amy.

I’m a writer, a mom, and a person who uses random receipts and junk mail scraps to mark her place in books despite owning many beautiful bookmarks.

I’m glad you’re here. This is the sort of place where you’re supposed to put a picture of yourself but I can’t figure out how to align one on the side of the text where it would look tasteful and complementary to the text rather than just being a giant HERE’S MY HEADSHOT and so I have opted not to. You can go click on my profile if you want to see what I look like.

If you’ve enjoyed my writing on Medium, Blogger, Bluesky, Twitter (now defunct), or a rare sighting in the comments section of a YouTube video…

subscribing to my Substack will be an easy way to keep getting the content you enjoy. Or, at least, the content you tolerate. (Let’s hope it’s not content you hate. Because if so, why are you here?)

Find Me Elsewhere

I have a Facebook page, Instagram, Threads (which I rarely check), Bluesky, and Medium. (I used to be on Twitter and then it turned into a fascist hellscape that scraped posts for AI training.) This is my main website and if I ever write a book this is the place where I’ll direct people, so you can say you were here first.

Why subscribe?

Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and website. Never miss an update. Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox. Most of my newsletters and essays are free, but paid subscribers receive access to the full archive, and help to fund my work with babysitting so I can write (!) and contribute to my ongoing English degree.
